Utility Systems Repairer-Operator

The Department of Veterans Affairs seeks applicants for a full-time Utility Systems Repairer-Operator at the VA Hospital Facility in Columbus Ohio.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the safe operation of the Energy Plants’ industrial equipment and the monitoring of the VAMC's Building Automation System.
Operating and safely maintaining three 250hp boilers and all associated equipment with the future addition of a fourth boiler.
Safely and efficiently monitor and assist with maintaining centrifugal chillers, associated cooling towers, and all related pumps and systems.
Completing and maintaining all official plant operational records, including boiler plant logbook, operational log, overtime call back log, hospital engineers log, plant production logs, chemical analysis logs, and preventative maintenance work orders.
Repairing, troubleshooting, installing, and altering equipment and systems.
The Incumbent will also consist of intermittent requests to utilize Building Automation Systems (BAS) to navigate through the systems control points for mechanical spaces, the main hospital’s patient rooms, offices, and common areas to accomplish requests for temperature changes, starting and stopping remote industrial equipment, and the verification of equipment status throughout the facility.
Responsible for communicating all situations with Supervisors, Head Nurse on Duty (NOD), and all maintenance personnel. This Incumbent requires a strong ability to log incidents or situations that may need reviewing and the ability to direct and consult requests from hospital personnel in a professional manner.
Utilize great customer service, Operations of Industrial Equipment, keeping work areas and surrounding areas clean of any hazards by using infectious control policies and regulations, accomplishing maintenance duties on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Hourly Pay and Benefits:
The salary range is $31.15 to - $36.31 per hour
Work Schedule:
The work schedule will include 12-hour shifts from 12:00 - 12:00

A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence that demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Work Conditions:
Frequently works in confined areas inside and around boilers and support equipment, i.e., auxiliary equipment, pumps, motors, fans, cooling towers, air handlers, roof, crawl spaces, ladders, lifts, and ceilings. Work requires moderate physical effort and long periods of walking, standing, climbing, bending, and crouching. Frequently lifts and carries boiler parts and chemical supplies weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally items weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment.
