Facilities Boiler Engineer

The Ohio State University seeks applicants for a full-time Facilities Boiler Engineer at the Wooster Campus Facility in Wooster Ohio.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate high-pressure boiler equipment and steam-driven or other turbines.

  • Inspect, clean, maintain, and repair boiler systems and related equipment.

  • Perform plumbing and steam fitting tasks as needed.

  • Provide technical guidance to other staff and assist other trades.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to all safety protocols.

  • Attend meetings, complete documentation, and deliver high-quality customer service.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors via written, electronic, and verbal methods.

  • Operate department vehicles and perform other duties as assigned.

Hourly Pay and Benefits:

The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications. The salary range is $25.35 - $31.69/hr.

Work Schedule:

To be Determined. May include overtime and 24-hour emergency call.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Two years of experience working with high-pressure boilers or Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer License

  • Must possess a current State of Ohio High Pressure Boiler License.

  • May require a valid State of Ohio driver’s license.

  • Ability to push and pull up to 70 lbs.

  • Ability to distinguish colors.

  • Ability to climb and stand on ladders for extended periods.

Work Conditions:

  • May work in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for extended periods.

  • May be required to work in cramped or confined spaces.

  • Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational needs in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
